Our Second Expedition at Cardigan

Day two at Cardigan was a long and eventful one. Most of the groups hiked Cardigan and or Firescrew. I know my group hiked both. After a chill morning, everyone got ready and headed out. To entertain us all day we played lots of interactive games. My personal favorite was called camouflage, a game similar to hide and seek. It was a long hike before we finally hit the summit of Firescrew. The views were amazing though. We also got to eat our lunch and get special snacks throughout the day. Once we made the short but steep hike from Firesrew to Cardigan we got to relax for a little bit and meet up with the other group. Even though it was really cold and windy up there, the views distracted us. When we got back to the lodge, everyone was beat from a long day of hiking. We showered and ate before going outside for a late night campfire and stargazing. All the groups came up with funny skits and learned about light pollution and what it does to the sky. It was another great day at Cardigan and I am sure everyone slept well that night!

Regions
On our day 2, we were able to go through a region at Cardigan. We went through the alpine zone region on Firescrew. But within that region, we were able to see a rare occurrence of a smaller region within the Alpine zone region. We were able to go through the Alpine Bog Region. This was cool because it is rare for there to be alpine bogs in southern NH but they are pretty common in northern NH.

Overall, we had a great time on the three days we were at Cardigan. (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.)
